Keyboard 5/7

To fix the semi-broken Amiga 1200 space-bar for good, I need to replace the plastic back plate with a new one. And for that switch a full Amiga 1200 keyboard dis- and reassembly is required. Perfect activity for the last day of the year.

Here's the donor board with intact clips for the metal bar that I recently bought. (Keyboard 4/7)

Step 1: Remove all key caps with a key cap puller and separate the springs.

Halbzeit. Ok... that's a lot of parts!

Step 5: Soapy water for the key caps and a lot of scrubbing.

Step 6: Get rid of old sticky tape with alcohol.

Step 7: Re-assembly! This took a lot longer than expected because I had to look up the position of many keys. Scrabble for suckers.

Oops.. counting is hard.

And finally: Attaching the space bar to the now properly mounted metal bar! What a relief to add this very key.

This repair was a lot of work. It was quite tedious but at the same time a very relaxing experience. Still, I'd consider murder of anyone goes near that metal bar.

I also made a time lapse video of the whole process: (4 hours compressed to ~1 minute)
