Amiga 1200 space-bar fix update 3!

[..] Earlier this afternoon my daughter played with beads and I joined in the fun. The moment I touched one, I had a feeling they could maybe act as plastic clip for my Amiga keyboard.

Six hours and a beads-rage-quit later I finally had time to test my theory. Had to trade an episode of "Sendung mit dem Elefanten" for 4 white beads.

Damn, perfect fit! 😄The space bar now triggers on the extreme left and right. This means the position of the metal bar clamp (obviously) needs to be exact, a few mm off and the whole mechanism won't work reliably.

Well, it's so much better now!

I got a feeling I might even be able to ditch the zip-ties, however the sensitivity still isn't 100% right. I think the key-press mechanism in the center isn't working properly and might need some additional cleaning or maybe some form of greasing.

I also prepared plan B earlier this week by purchasing a cheap replacement keyboard base on Ebay which is still in the mail and might not arrive before x-mas.

However that kind of transplantation is a ton of work and I'd risk ruining the entire keyboard (which would be a very expensive replacement). Another way would be to use the new base as donor. I could cut off both plastic stands and glue them on my keyboard base.

Bonus picture: The Amiga now has a stand.
