Keyboard 2/7
The keyboard fix I did earlier this month didn't work. Too much force was needed to get the key to trigger. UsingAmigaShellwashell. Tonight I decided to revisit the space bar repair.
Here's the original thread: Amiga 1200
I'm still a bit pissed that the original seller didn't mention this issue.
The reason the zip-tie mount didn't work, was because the metal bar wasn't close enough to the plastic cradle. If it isn't a tight fit, the space bar sensitivity is all messed up.
During this repair I'm listening to a few mods, "Lost Scrotum" by Paso (1996) is one of them:
My new plan is to tie down the metal bar to the plastic base. A zip-tie could work because the round loop wouldn't prevent the bar from rotating and the long tail is ideal to glue to a surface.
I tried a few sizes (and colors), but ended up with 2.5mm ones. I didn't want to glue them with epoxy because it would make the fix permanent. Hot glue is perfect because it's easy to work with and it can be removed without much hassle.
Surprise cat content! Lucy, (14) is camping outside until the desk is free again.
I needed two attempts to find the proper zip-tie loop. The one below works perfectly.
Looks good and works! It's almost perfect now. The space bar works everywhere but is just slightly less sensitive than the other keys. More than good enough for now!
